Physocarpus
Ninebark
Physocarpus (Ninebark), is a group of very tough, undemanding, deciduous multi-stemmed shrubs that are hardy, adaptable and easy to grow. They typically grow into medium-sized, 8'x8' rounded shrubs with creamy white clusters of flowers in mid-summer, May to June.
Physocarpus has a dense appearance with medium growth. Grow in full sun to part shade.
The name 'Ninebark' comes from the feature of peeling bark in mature plants. It is said that Physocarpus has 'nine barks'
Some exciting new forms with purple and golden yellow foliage have recently become available. Dart's Gold, Monolo 'Diablo' and Snowfall are a few varieties of Ninebark that are usually available.
